Children 6 to 12 years old love to participate in the many fun activities organized by Welcome Hall Mission's Club de l'Arche. There are activities that are planned almost every night of the week in five different low-income neighbourhoods. Kid�s Clubs and Gym Nights, are run by caring volunteer monitors in church basements, school gymnasiums or community halls that are either loaned or rented to Welcome Hall Mission.
Why does a homeless shelter go out of its way to help children go to Summer Camp, stay in school and stay off the streets? The answer is simple, too many of our grown-up clients� lives would have been different if only someone had taken the time to care for them when they were little. A kind word, a friendly face, a safe environment, a chance to build self-esteem and develop life skills at an early age are some of the many ways that can help to break the cycle of poverty.
