About short-term service
One to three weeks with MDS

Volunteers who desire to serve for one to three weeks can call the project directly to arrange their stay. You must contact the project director before you go to the project. You are expected to coordinate your own transportation to the MDS project site. Once you arrive, food and lodging will be provided for you.

How to apply
Volunteers with MDS can now call one toll-free number. Short-term and all US volunteers will call 800-241-8111, to schedule time at a project. Long-term volunteers in Canada will continue to call 866-261-1274.

MDS volunteers come from a network of supportive Anabaptist churches. If you would like to volunteer and you are in agreement with MDS volunteer expectations, we welcome you to call any of our open projects.

Notice for Canadian volunteers
Remember to download a Short-Term Volunteer Registration form (obtainable from the Downloads link on our home page or below) and connect with the MDS office in Canada prior to making service arrangements directly with an MDS project. This will ensure that you receive a border crossing letter, travel assistance/receipting details and other important MDS information.
