The University of Pennsylvania, School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2) has made a long-term commitment to assist with the recovery efforts of Hancock County, Mississippi. We are partnering with Bucks-Mont Katrina Relief Project, University of Southern Mississippi, service providers and residents to help rebuild, provide and access mental health services.

This project, the SP2 Feldman Initiative - Hancock County, is incremental in nature. For the first stage SP2 will send Master of Social Work graduate student volunteers to the region. They will assist in areas and fields where they are considered competent and have demonstrated a level of mastery and expertise (ie. counseling, administration, research, case management, conducting workshops, running groups, etc). Ultimately, the school would like to provide human resources for Hancock County by creating an internship option for interested students from all three SP2 masters programs and by mobilizing the University of Pennsylvania at large to participate in the adoption of this region.
