OUR MISSION: 1. To help initiate and facilitate the formation, management and operation of local interfaith/long-term recovery organizations (LTROs). 2. To provide available financial, material, human and spiritual resources in responding to needs documented by Washington Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (WAVOAD) and/or a LTRO. 3. To partner with other WAVOAD members and other organizations plus local, state and federal disaster response programs, to provide assistance to all people and communities, particularly the most vulnerable. 4. To address emotional and spiritual trauma experienced by those impacted by a disaster and to provide and enhance the gifts of spiritual care. 5. To communicate key information and guidance among faith-based groups / individuals / communities before, during, and following a disaster event. 6. To engage in disaster-related education, preparation and mitigation efforts between disaster events. 7. While WIDRO member organizations may engage in first response and/or relief activities, WIDRO itself focuses on long-term recovery.
