Volunteer Action Center is opening a Volunteer Reception Center at 8 am Tuesday morning to begin registering volunteers to help with relief and recovery for flooding victims. Many individuals and groups are reaching out to the Volunteer Action Center looking for ways to serve the community.
If you could use the help of volunteers please complete the attached Volunteer Request Form for each volunteer need you have and return to Volunteer Action Center as soon as possible.
All volunteers will be processed through the Volunteer Reception Center, including interviewing and screening and will be assigned to your agency per your request, including specific shifts, number of volunteers and number of hours needed, defined skills needed, etc. All volunteers processed through the Volunteer Reception Center will be interviewed and screened for appropriateness for your volunteer need and they will be given training on any designated safety concerns. The only screening that I will not be able to complete is a criminal background check or sex offender registry check. Should these screenings be a requirement for your agency, you will need to do these checks yourself.
The Volunteer Reception Center will notify your agency if volunteers are assigned to you so that you will know who is coming and when to expect them. All volunteers assigned to a volunteer opportunity through the Volunteer Reception Center should arrive at your designated location with proof that they received their assignment through the VRC. At this time, proof will be in the form of a bright pink slip signed by a Volunteer Reception Center representative.
All personal information on each volunteer will be maintained by Volunteer Action Center and will be available for your records upon request. Volunteer hours will be tracked by VAC.

The Volunteer Reception Center and volunteer needs will be marketed by VAC through QMIX, White River Broadcasting, and the Republic as well as on First Call for Help 2-1-1 and Volunteer Bartholomew websites.
