Mission: The Anderson Animal Care and Control is a city animal control agency. We receive approximately 5,000 to 7,000 animals a year. Due to this large number not all animals will find a home. Most are picked up as strays with little history on them, however some are owner surrenders. All available information is listed on Petfinder.
The shelter is always full. There are dozens of cats and dogs that are in desperate need of a permanent home everyday. Come and visit our animals - we are easy to find and our animals love the attention!

Notes:
You must sign an adoption contract to have the pet spayed or neutered within a specified amount of time. The amount of time allowed will depend on the animal's estimated age at the time of adoption.
There are several other specifications that are on the contract. Including notification of the shelter if your address changes, you must return the pet to the shelter if it doesn't work out, etc. Please make sure to read the contract thoroughly before signing the agreement.
It is $30.00 to adopt a cat, dog or puppy. Kittens are available for $15.00. These fees reflect vaccinations, deworming and medical tests such as heartworm for canines and feleuk/fiv for felines. You must also purchase a city license if you live in the city of Anderson.
All pitbulls, amstaffs and all purebred dogs/cats will be spayed or neutered before going home after an adoption. The cost of the spay/neuter must be prepaid. New owner will be responsible to pick up the adopted animal at the vet clinic used.
It is suggested that you take your new pet to the vet as soon as possible after adoption to make sure that they are healthy.
