Hold the phone…and your old TV, computer, stereo and all your other unwanted electronic items for the Maynard Boy Scouts’ Electronics Recycling Day on Sat., Feb. 21, 2009. Home pickup can also be arranged for those who need a helping hand on Feb. 7, 2009.

The Scouts will collect all used electronics from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Feb. 21, at Clock Tower Place in Maynard. Everything collected will be 100 percent-recycled – zero in the landfill – by a qualified electronics recycling company.

Be Green! Be Legal. (It is illegal to dispose of various electronic devices in
landfills in Massachusetts.) A nominal fee will be charged for this service, which will support the activities of Boy Scout Troop 130 of Maynard.
Items the Scouts will collect include computers, TVs, monitors, printers, VCR’s, scanners, radios, microwaves, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, stereos, phones, routers, DVD players, Game Boxes, and fax machines. Hard drives will be removed and shredded upon request. Disposal prices will range from $5 to $30 depending on the size of the item.

Pickup assistance is available for seniors or anyone needing help with heavy items. Anyone unable to come to the Feb. 21 recycling event may also call in advance for pickup. (Phone number will be posted.) The pickup day will be Feb. 7, 2009, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
