Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) Area Offices - Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA), formerly known as the Department of Public Welfare, is the State agency responsible for administering public assistance programs for needy citizens of the Commonwealth.

Because DTA emphasizes temporary assistance, recipients are encouraged to participate in education, training and job search activities that promote responsibility and self-sufficiency. The Department provides services to more than 400,000 families and individuals across the state.
