notes: North Dakota, NDSU to provide disaster assistance to horses displaced by flood
The North Dakota State University Development Foundation and the NDSU Equine Science Department as well as the North Dakota Horse Park have teamed up to provide disaster assistance to horses displaced by the Red River flood of 2009. The North Dakota Horse Park is currently at capacity with over 300 displaced horses currently stabled on the grounds with additional horses currently being placed at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds. Donations of hay, grain, shavings and horse care equipment such as water buckets, blankets and grooming supplies may be brought directly to the main barn of the North Dakota Horse Park from 8-5pm. Please contact barn manager, Shannon Eck, at 701-281-1138.
The NDSU Development Foundation has also up a fund to handle monetary donations for the flood horses. Their contact information and online donation form can be found at:http://www.ndsufoundation.com/
Donors are asked to make sure that any checks or online donations are clearly marked for the flood horses. These monies will be used to assist horse owners displaced by the floods provide for their horses until flooded stables, pastures and farms can be cleaned up or rebuilt.
