Hundreds of flood victims in Johns Creek are cleaning out their houses and throwing away everything inside. “It's just a total loss, everything we've got,” Michael Thacker said. Dozens on Blackburn Bottom even lost entire homes. “It's just been a nightmare for all of us around,” Shirley Bolden said. The nightmare continues at the Johns Creek Fire Department. Flood water inside destroyed their pumper truck and other equipment. The losses do not stop firefighters' relief efforts. They are loading food and cleaning supplies in the truck they have left and taking it to flood victims. “Been so busy helping the community, we just haven't took time to stop and take care of our own stuff. The community to us comes first, and we try to help them as much as possible,” Jason Parsons, Johns Creek Firefighter, said. “Oh we appreciate them. We appreciate their help and everything they've done for us,” Bolden said. Flood victims say the daily deliveries help get them through the day. “It makes a difference knowing you've got something to eat and help with. Hopefully they can keep it up and help us get through this,” Thacker said. Johns Creek Firefighters say they will continue deliveries as long as the people need it. People here say it will take a long time to get their homes back to where they can live in them again. The Johns Creek Fire Department does have insurance to cover the destroyed truck and equipment.
