Six Disaster Recovery Centers set up by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are now open in the state’s tornado-affected counties. Sites in Attala, Choctaw, Holmes, Warren and Yazoo counties have received more than 500 visits so far. Plans are also being finalized for additional recovery centers in Monroe and Union counties. Details will be announced soon. At the recovery centers, people who suffered losses can get person-to-person assistance from specialists skilled in many disaster-related subjects.
Locations are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.

People can also apply for assistance by registering online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 800-462-7585. The toll-free numbers are staffed 7 a.m. to10 p.m., seven days a week until further notice. Help is available in all languages.
Specialists at the recovery centers can check the case status of an applicant, answer questions about a registration, or review information needed to process the claim. They also can supply contacts for other programs that may be able to help.
U.S. Small Business Administration representatives are at the centers to answer any questions about the SBA’s low-interest disaster loan program for homeowners, renters, businesses and private non-profit organizations of all sizes. These loans are to repair or replace real estate and/or personal property damaged by the storms and flooding.
SBA representatives will help complete SBA disaster loan applications. Anyone not able to go to a recovery center should call the SBA Customer Service Center from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., CST, toll-free at 800-659-2955 for information and assistance, or visit the SBA Web site at http://www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance or send an email to disastercustomerservice @sba.gov .
