Further torrential rain is forecast over the coming days. Among the areas affected are Punjab province and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, formerly known as the North West Frontier Province. More than 1500 people have lost their lives; many more are stranded and exposed to disease and extreme lack of food. Thousands have been displaced. Other impacts include the loss of livestock and damage to agricultural crops and fields. It is estimated that more than a million people have been affected thus far; the total estimated damages and affected population are yet to be determined due to inaccessibility caused by rising flood waters and disruption to communication networks. Immediate needs include food, water, tents and other non-food items. Based on assessments conducted by its staff and local partners, CWS plans to provide emergency assistance to 70,000 people - food assistance to 35,000 people, emergency shelter supplies to meet the needs of 17,500 people, and mobile clinic health access for 17,500 people, as follows. By category, this includes food distribution in Swat (14,000 persons); DI Khan (7,000); Sibbi (7,000); Kohistan (7,000). Non-food items, shelter kits and plastic sheets in Sibbi (10,500) and DI Khan (7,000).
