Who We Are - Overview

World Connect, a 501c3 non profit, is dedicated to improving the health and well being of women and children in underserved and under-resourced communities worldwide.

World Connect was founded in 2005 to improve the health and wellbeing of women and children. From 2006-2009, the organization focused primarily on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health programs in the Dominican Republic, which garnered national recognition and included training and equipping four hospitals and operating two maternal and infant rural health clinics.

In 2009, World Connect expanded its activities into youth development with the incorporation of the Kids to Kids Program, committed to creating opportunities for kids everywhere to participate in arts, sports, education and environmental projects. World Connect expanded its programs again in 2010 with World Connect Grants, a program designed to support local leader's innovative ideas to improve maternal and child health.

In response to the devastating earthquake that shook Haiti on January 12, 2010, World Connect launched a special Haiti Relief Effort. With extensive experience working in the Dominican Republic and deep connections to Haiti, World Connect assisted the relief efforts by navigating the shipment of critical medical supplies and equipment and dedicating staff time to coordinate logistics. World Connect is dedicated to being a part of the long-term commitment to help Haiti rebuild and recover.

Haiti Relief Efforts

The world saw a tremendous outpouring of support in response to the earthquake that rocked Haiti on January 12, 2010. World Connect contributed to these efforts through timely support to partners on the ground launching a range of programs that responded to critical needs through provision of medicines, medical supplies, equipment and logistical support to affected populations. Now, as the needs shift from the immediate emergency response to rebuilding the lives and livelihoods of those in Haiti, World Connect is excited to provide an update on its partnership with the Lafond School in Les Palmes.
