This group has expanded their scope to include New Orleans, under the new name "Gulf Coast Works", but we've combined the info under Bridge to Biloxi because that's the name that most people know them by.
Hi there...it's been too long since our last email, but your friends at Bridge To Biloxi have been very busy. Among many other things, we've committed to building a house from the ground up in New Orleans starting next month, and we're letting all our friends know of this great new opportunity to join us in our continuing dedication to the Katrina recovery efforts. We will need a steady stream of volunteers from late February thru May, so if you hanker to experience the great satisfaction that comes from helping good people rebuilding their lives and community, this is it. More detail is available on our website, including a helpful tasking timeline under the Homebuilding Projects tab that may help you plan the timing of your adventure.
And, if you don't already, you should also know that we've changed our name to Gulf Coast Works. Because the need is greater elsewhere, we've migrated away from Biloxi over the last year and this new name better reflects our current goals...but we're still the same tight-knit group of volunteers that you've come to trust and be a part of, so rest assured. You can find us on the web at both our old BridgeToBiloxi dot org URL and our new GulfCoastWorks dot org URL. There is much, much more information available on our new site, so check it out when you can.
And finally, if your schedule doesn't allow you to join our current project, we are always willing to help you find great opportunities to volunteer, either in New Orleans or in coastal Mississippi, where we have many friends and great partner organizations to introduce you to. So, consider putting together a small group of family, friends, classmates, or whatever and picking a week in the not too distant future to go have the time of your life helping others...we're here to help make that happen as simple as 1-2-3.
Please contact us at info@bridgetobiloxi.org with any questions.

trips to the Biloxi area. Our basic mission is to facilitate
and expedite the process of getting to and finding mean-
ingful, productive work for volunteers from throughout
the U.S....more details available at our website.
We have strong relationships with a number of well managed,
high effective ground operations from Biloxi west to the
Slidell area. We will provide direction (but no money) so travel,
housing and food needs are met by our host organizations...
volunteers need only get themselves to airports in Gulfport or
New Orleans and arrange for ground transportion.
Through our resources, we will supply project management
and logistical support.
As of Spring 2007, most work is focused on home building
or rebuilding, and anyone with trade skills is highly desireable.
We do also seek donations of money and/or supplies of building
materials. Please see website for details.
