Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) is establishing a fund to help the area in its long-term flood recovery needs. MACF will provide an initial contribution of $250,000 to establish the Minot Area Recovery Fund and has already begun fundraising efforts to meet the initial goal of $1 million. The Foundation will then work with other national, regional and local funding sources to meet or exceed an overall goal of raising more than $2 million.

The goal is to use the fund to play an active role in flood recovery efforts by supporting relief and restoration throughout the greater Minot area, including the counties of Ward, Renville, Bottineau and McHenry.

MACF will work through volunteer committees of community leaders to make grants from the Minot Area Recovery Fund to organizations providing direct services to individuals.

Early grants will be made to first responders, such as the American Red Cross, local soup kitchens, food pantries, etc. for flood relief efforts initially, then in the flood's aftermath, MACF will begin accepting grant applications submitted by qualifying organizations for flood recovery efforts. MACF will look to local nonprofit organizations, government agencies and religious organizations to provide funding in areas such as:

# Rebuilding Assistance - construction materials, repairs, HVAC
# Rental/Mortgage Assistance/Transitional Housing
# Goods/Household Items - appliances, furniture & bedding, clothing
# Services - childcare, legal, referral, transportation, animal care, community
# Counseling/Health Services - behavioral health & physical health care
# Direct Assistance - tax assistance, utilities
# Food Assistance
