North Carolina received a major disaster declaration for Hurricane Irene today that includes Individual Assistance for Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Dare, Hyde, Pamlico, and Tyrrell Counties (7), and HMGP statewide.
Working with clients from Tropical Storm Nicole (fall 2010) and Spring Tornado event (April 2011), NC VOAD responds to Hurricane Irene. The twelve long term recovery groups established or energized following the tornadoes will provide a mentoring capability as new groups are established following Irene.
