mission: SoCal Animal Response Team (SCART) is a Southern California based animal disaster response team whose goals are to educate the public in disaster preparedness for their families and pets and, to provide assistance to animals affected by a disaster. It officially became a non-profit corporation at the end of 2005; however, the members began working toward this goal in 2004. Since SCART is non-profit and its members are all volunteers, it is dependent on the donation of funds and supplies in order to fulfill the purposes for which it was established. SCART is open to all those interested in helping others prepare themselves, their pets and their neighborhoods for a disaster and to those who would like to help animals during a disaster. SCART also offers training from experienced team members in Animal Disaster Preparedness & Sheltering, as well as, Beginning and Intermediate Search & Rescue. Mission • To respond to animal needs and assist other agencies during a disaster or crisis. • To educate the public in the care of animals during a disaster or crisis and educate them regarding animal abuse. • To provide training to individual owners to take care of their animals at home, and to assist the neighborhood animals before, during and after a disaster. • To offer assistance to cities with animal sheltering, pet response and disaster recovery as needed and requested.
