Do you like giant potlucks with lots of friends and new faces, music,
movies, and adorable tiny humans? If so, you might be a good person to join
our humble but mighty co-op in Davis Square. We are seeking a new housemate
starting April 1st or earlier -- $775 rent (plus $200 per month for food
and utilities)
About our co-op:
We value community, and hope to find a sixth member of our house who can
add to the lovely homey feeling we have with each other. We are a more
tightly-knit group than your average set of housemates (or even than your
average co-op). We have all the usual co-op trappings, including a house
account which we use to buy our CSA and groceries (mostly organic), and we
like to host fun events like music soirees, storytelling nights, and indoor
and outdoor movie nights. But, most importantly, we act like a small
family: we share our lives and take care of each other.
About us:
There are five humans and one cat currently living in the house: a couple
in their early 40s, their six-month-old baby, and two men in their
mid-to-late 20s (...and the cat is nine years old). Among us are
entrepreneurs, teachers, computer programmers, musicians, and travelers.
About our house:
We live in the top two floors of a classic Somerville house. Our apartment
is beautiful and spacious, with a big kitchen (gorgeous gas stove) and two
full bathrooms. It's newly renovated, with central AC. There is storage and
free laundry in the basement. We have a shared driveway if you have a car,
but the walk to Davis Square is 5-7 mins. The available room is the largest
bedroom in the house with a massive walk-in closet.
About you:
We are looking for someone who enjoys hanging out with housemates but also
has some of their own interesting passions. Ideally, you have experience
living with groups and you look forward to inviting cool people to the
social events we organize in our lovely home. Bonus points if you love
cooking, playing instruments and activism.
About life with a baby:
The non-parents in the household can attest that living with a baby has
been less challenging than you'd think. The parents do chores like everyone
else, and we are now hosting events just like we did before the babe. And,
as for the crying, current housemates haven't been disturbed. The house is
fairly soundproof, the baby is fairly calm, and his adorableness supersedes
any mild inconvenience.
