Thanks to the generosity of our community donors, Arlington Life Shelter impacted the lives of nearly 1,400 homeless men women and children during 2006, helping young mothers battle alcoholism and depression; children enjoy warm meals and shoes that fit; and fathers redevelop a sense of pride in themselves as the family breadwinner. In the year ahead, the agency sees itself continuing to work with more and more young families as they face the economy's increasing cost for transportaion and housing. Babies and young children born to drug-addicted mothers pose a challenge that threatens to overwhelm the agency's children's services program. Last year ALS provided services for 351 children - almost half of which were age 5 and under. This year the Board of Directors will be closely examining the long-term impact of agency services on the residents as well as planning for the agency’s future. We invite you to join us on the journey of shepherding homeless men, women and children towards a lifestyle of self-sufficiency.
