notes: EVACUATION INFO: Buses will collect evacuees from pick-up sites starting 8:30AM Monday Valley Morning Star People evacuating voluntarily from Cameron County who do not plan to drive their own cars may go to pick-up points around the county to be picked up by school buses, Precinct 4 Commissioner Edna Tamayo said. School buses will begin picking people up from collection points at 8:30 a.m. Monday and will stop at those points every half hour, she said. County and city officials will meet today at the courthouse in Brownsville, Tamayo said. Cities are responsible for coordinating with school districts to organize pick-up points for city residents, Tamayo said. Those pickup points will be announced on Sunday, she said. Evacuees from rural areas will board school buses that will take evacuees to the central collection point at the new Cameron County annex building (the former Levi’s factory) at the northbound Expressway 77/83 frontage road and Oscar Williams Road in San Benito. There the passengers will be transferred to larger buses being sent by the state of Texas. After each large bus is filled, evacuees will be taken to shelters in San Antonio.
