As only a 10 beds hospital it offered free services in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Maternity, Radiology and Laboratory. My first lessons in Medicine were learned right there. People came from all over to be treated there. After Reynolds left in 1982, the hospital lost its financial support and by 2003 it had transformed slowly into a small health center with no electricity, no water, no toilets, no radiology and no surgery, a rotten ceiling and a leaking roof. Haiti Help Med renovated the building and a new center was inaugurated on September 27, 2007. Since then Haiti Help Med took on the challenge of adding a new building to the current site with a new surgical suite, a dental clinic, an ophthalmology clinic, 2 bathrooms, a large waiting room/conference room, a new archive section and 3 new exam rooms. This whole new hospital will be inaugurated on July 24, 2010 -> CAT FACILITY RECORD FOR Haiti Help Med Plus: at: http://www.citizencommandcenter.org/shelters/edit/6037 Earthquake Relief What we have done since the earthquake: - 3 orthopedic missions trips - 3 medical mission trips - 1 gynecological mission trip - Completion of the addition to the hospital in Paillant with an operating room - Building of the first 2 homes for the poor people in the village of George - Distribution of tents, clothes, shoes and other small items to the poor. Haiti has recently been devastated by a recent severe earthquake. As a result, Henri Jabon and Dr Samuel Jean and Ralph Gousse led a team of orthopedists, gynecologist, anesthesiologist and nurses from Florida to Miragoane and Paillant where they were able to help more than 100 injured people. Many of Central Florida Haitian-American Health Care Workers have joined forces with Haiti Help Med to provide long term care to the people in need. Their effort in Miragoane and Paillant will help also in the decentralization process so vital to the rebuilding of a better Haiti. At this critical time, in addition to your monetary donation, Haiti Help Med Plus is asking for your much needed donation of medical and emergency supplies to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
